In class today, your classmates shared stories of their artifacts. Whose story did you feel was best? Why? What made it good? Be specific. Write the name of the student whose story you liked best and explain why in detail.
What are the hallmarks of a good narrative? What makes a story unforgettable?

Artifact: License to Drive! |
that it is difficult to choose a story because we didn't really tell stories. You talked about your artifact as an episode of your life whereas we talked about our artifact as to justify why we choosed it.
ReplyDeleteBut, I would choose Hazim's story, because you don't expect from a book to play guitar ! I stopped playing the guitar at 15 years old, so it made me feel a bit nostalgic.
I liked other stories, but "best" means to choose one so I can't explain why I liked some other stories.
In fact I liked all the stories, all of them made me feel that there artifacts was Important to them in a special way . some of them was funny and the others was Emotional.but actually there were two stories that did really attracts me ,which was louis's story and hazim's story.
ReplyDeletelouis's story was so funny, and when he was telling it , i rememberd my childhood . But i think the best one was hazim's story .maybe its because i really like guitars, and i was Amazed when he said that he learned to play it in three years only . beside that i did really like his playing on the guitar . it was amazing to know that he wanted it since he was a kid and when he got it he Taught himself in a really good way .
kholoud:)
i cant really choose as to which story was the best but the one that really got my attention was hazims story. i think it appealed more to me as i can kind of relate as i used to play the guitar. i could say, maybe, i did go through the same sort of phase he did when my parents first disagreed then were convinced. what surprised me with his story is how we was self-taught in just 3-years and is able to play really well. what also made his "speech" interesting was how we proved to us that he can play well and played a piece of piano music and applied it to guitar playing

Even though I arrived late,I heard the stories from Hazim and the most one that appealed to be was Louis's story because it reminded me of my childhood.Every boy grew up playing football or whatever the sport may be and thats what made his story significant. When he mentioned using the ball is a weapon against his sister,it refreshes my memory of how I use to break things with my tennis ball and I would later get scolded/punished.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think that all the stories that were shared in class on that day were simply "the best". There was nothing, absolutely nothing that made one story more surpassing than the other. In fact, I was waiting for that moment, till I could actually find a story that I would pick as best, but there was clearly no competition there whatsoever. Their stories were expressed as feelings rather than said in words, the more they went on narrating their stories, the more I would marvelously react to it, and it would take me back to that moment of my life. However, If I were to choose, I would pick Louis's story as best. Why? simply because he spoke what his heart was thinking. He could narrate his story without having to represent his artifact. Just the fact of him doing so, made me feel that his story was the most genuinely heartfelt. A narrative is an experience written by you that you face during your life, It tells a story, which is meaningful and important to you. It describes how a certain event can change a major part of yourself and your life, and how you have reacted to that event that happened to you. A good narrative isn't just an enjoyable or amusing story, but has a point to make, an idea to pass on. The quality and character of the narrator make for a good narrative, otherwise why bother with the narrative form? The unique feature of narration is that is has an undisguised point of view that exaggerates or minimizes elements of what might otherwise be an objective and or omniscient 3rd person structure. It's free to editorialize, digress and comment about the events in the story it relates.
ReplyDeleteWell, all stories were wonderful, each story had a different style cause of our different lives, but in my point of view, there are three story that attract me more than the others, first story is Hazim`s story, it was a really nice story about guitar and how special that guitar means for him, also I really like the way he's playing the guitar, I hope him to continue playing guitar and in the future I am sure he will be a famous player one day.
ReplyDeleteSecond story is khould`s story, it was a funny story about a necklace, that when she was still a child, there was a boy who gave her a necklace as a gift to stop fighting with him, then after a period of time, she know that the necklace is for the boy`s sister, and he had stole it just for stop fighting with her.
Last story which I choose it as the best story that I had heard in the class is Louis`s story, which make me choose it as the best? Because that story gave me a flashback, I had remember when I always break down the watch on the wall and sometimes I hit my sisters by the ball.
From that we can answer the last two questions - What are the hallmarks of a good narrative? What makes a story unforgettable? – The answer for the first question is that what we noticed before in Louis`s story is when the narrative including some ideas or memories from our real life that made us make a relationship between the story and the real life.
The answer of the second question is something that we can find it in Hazim`s story and Khould`s story is the events that became more than normal and less than up normal, I mean it is something that is interesting but not probably happen.

ReplyDeleteBasically they were all beautiful stories because the artifact that each was talking about has such a deep sentimental value to each one of them and it's pretty obvious to see the proof of that by just looking at them while each was telling his/her own story..I can see the smiles of joy by just telling and remembering it in class and it was beautiful just by it truthfully coming from their hearts
ReplyDeleteIf I would choose one that has to be the best it would be quiet hard they all were except that they story that I am sure I won't forget for a long time is kholouds story...perhaps it's because it showed me a part of her that I really didn’t expect and that it was basically a story that I can relate to because it was about friendship and it reminded me of my friends not to mention that it made me focus on the fact of how different she seemed to be in the story in the beginning and at the end which was the funniest part where the necklace was actually a stolen necklace and that they still are good friends to this day..Honestly it’s a simple and beautiful story...
To me I think a good narrative needs good main idea to attract the reader, good characters, story line, imagination in case it was fiction and the best part is when the story suddenly changes in the tellers own creative way. I think an unforgettable story is an unusual story that most people can relate to and still be different from the other stories using the characters, story line and the teller's way of presenting the story itself to the reader in a good way
Hey there everyone!
ReplyDeleteOh,look Loius and Hazam! Khalid Abdullah lool arrived late !
